So about two months ago I got a message from the editor of Quaint Magazine, Michelle Jo, describing the magazine and what all she wanted to accomplish when they launched in November. We exchanged banners and such, and ever since then she's given me tons of free and much appreciated publicity. This blog is the beginning of some overdue and well-deserved reciprocity.

I've had a change in heart about Youtube's algorithmic demotion. I've seen no evidence of the system actually in motion, and now I'm thinking it's a publicity stunt for potential advertisers. With the economy as bad as it is, companies have less money to advertise, so they need to maximize their advertisements by being a bit scrupulous.

Youtube announced yesterday that they'd be installing a new system to control what gets seen on Youtube. (Hmmm... that sounded more morally ambiguous in my head.) The new "algorithmic" system would accomplish four things: stricter standard for mature content, demotion of sexually suggestive content and profanity, improved thumbnails, and more accurate video information.
